Sandie Smith has lived most of her life in Black Hawk County, Iowa. She
graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School and Hawkeye Community
College.
Sandie been employed with Black Hawk County since 1989. She has spent all of those years working in the Recorder’s office. She is a Certified County Recorder, She was elected to the position of Recorder and took the oath of office in January, 2015. She is a member of ISAC and has served on many committees in the county.
Sandie assisted with the conversion of electronic records into a new data system (Cott) to facilitate access to land records. She has continued the use of technology to make the office more accessible to the public. She created a Passport room to process passport applications and take passport photos. She is using strategic planning to make her office more efficient for the future.
Sandie and her husband Tim have 3 children, Samuel, Sawyer and Spencer.
