Black Hawk County, IA -- The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors and the Black Hawk County Veterans Affairs Commission invite the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the new Veterans Affairs Office. The event will take place on September 4 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 1210 Idaho Street, Waterloo.
The new office, funded through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, will provide a welcoming space for veterans and their families to access benefits, services, and support. Veterans Affairs staff assist with a wide range of needs, including claims assistance, education benefits, housing, healthcare access, and connections to local resources.
“This new office represents our ongoing commitment to serving the men and women who have served our country,” said Yolando Loveless, Veterans Affairs Director. “It is designed to make services more accessible and ensure every veteran in Black Hawk County has the support they need.”
The ribbon cutting also marks the return of the popular Veterans Luncheons, which were paused this summer during construction. After the program, attendees are invited to stay and share a meal under the new gazebo.
