Waterloo Alumnae Chapter Hosts 3rd Annual Women’s Health Summit
WATERLOO, IA — The Waterloo Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is proud to present the 3rd Annual Women’s Health Summit on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center, 120 Jefferson St., Waterloo.
This year’s theme, "Building a Legacy of Health: Overcoming Generational Barriers to Wellness," highlights the importance of breaking cycles that impact physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial well-being. By providing education, resources, and actionable strategies, the summit aims to empower women to create long-term wellness for themselves and their families. The event will address key health concerns, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, breast and cervical cancer, and mental health, while also emphasizing self-care, fitness, and financial wellness. This initiative aligns with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s national commitment to advocating for education and access to essential resources to improve overall community well-being.
"This summit is about more than just personal health—it’s about equipping women with the tools to transform their wellness and the well-being of future generations," says Krystal Madlock, Chapter Vice President and Programming Chair. "By increasing access to information and healthcare professionals, we empower women to take charge of their lives and their legacy."
This event will feature a range of informational health vendors, including Amani Community Services, Focus on Diabetes, Black Hawk County Public Health, NAMI, and Splash of Color, a breast cancer support group. Dynamic speakers will lead discussions on spiritual health, heart health, financial wellness, and physical fitness. Featured presenters include Cardiac Nurse Teresa Culpepper, Pastor & Author Judeda Hill, Financial Wellness Advocate Shanterra Martin, FitBrit founder Brittany Davis, and Certified Personal Trainer Stephany Hoskins.
A special keynote panel will focus on raising awareness, self-advocacy, and strengthening support for women facing critical health challenges.
The health summit is free and open to women ages 18 and older. TruStage serves as the corporate sponsor, with additional support from Veridian Credit Union, Black Hawk County Public Health, Molina Healthcare, People’s Community Health Clinic, UnityPoint Health, and Cedar Valley Subs.
