Special Election in Black Hawk County: Voting Information & Reminders
Black Hawk County voters will head to the polls on January 28 for a special election to fill the vacant County Supervisor position following the resignation of Dan Trelka. Voters can cast their ballots at any of the convenient vote centers across the county, regardless of their precinct. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. A full list of vote center locations is provided below:
“This special election provides voters with the flexibility of voting at any of the available vote centers,” said Karen Showalter, Black Hawk County Auditor. “We want to make sure every eligible voter has the opportunity to cast their ballot on January 28.”

FOR ABSENTEE/EARLY VOTERS: Early voting continues at the Black Hawk County Courthouse, 316 E. 5th St. in Waterloo, 2nd floor, through Monday, January 27. Normal business hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
If you received a ballot by mail, ensure it is returned to the Election Office at the Black Hawk County Courthouse by 8:00 PM on Election Day. The ballot must be received by 8:00 PM to be counted – postmarks are no longer a determining factor. The courthouse has a convenient drop box outside for returning ballots.
