Voters must be registered to vote in the precinct where they live in order to cast a ballot in an election. In Iowa, voters may register to vote (or update their registration) online or by using a form prescribed by the Iowa Secretary of State.

Voters must be properly registered fifteen days before an election to appear on the voter roster at their precinct polling place.
Election Day Registration
