Forest Management
Black Hawk County’s forest management work keeps our County green spaces healthy, diverse, and productive over time. Led by our Conservation team, these efforts focus on improving forest health and biodiversity, creating high-quality wildlife habitat, encouraging the growth of valuable hardwoods like oak and walnut, and supporting outdoor recreation such as hiking, hunting, and wildlife viewing. The video below demonstrates how thoughtful planning and hands-on management help ensure our forests remain resilient and full of life for future generations.
